Many people are preaching today but a good number are obviously not preaching the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Their gospel are rather points people towards them and not to Christ. Many have good messages; some have good oratory that leads no one to salvation; others preach sermons that leads no one to genuine repentance. What are you preaching, the gospel or self?
John the Baptist never minced words when he told his disciples that the message he preached were not about him but about He that is greater. John 1:27, “He it is, who is coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose.”
Toady what do we preach? Messages that give attention to ourselves, rather than He that sent us, no one wants to decrease so that He may increase. It is now our gospel and not His gospel.
Most sermons we hear today are earthly relevant but heavenly irrelevant. They make us successful here on earth but have no eternal value to the hearers.
2 Kings 7:9, “Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.”
While we have a lot of preachers today who are feeding fat on the gospel but refuse to spread the good tidings to those who are gospel starved, some others are preaching a gospel that hasn’t changed their own lives; you can’t give what you don’t have. The lepers first had an experience before going out to share a message. Many today are preaching a message they have never experienced; people who aren’t saved trying to save others, a drowning man who is yet to be rescued is trying to save another drowning man -a case of the blind leading the blind.
If you don’t have a testimony you can’t have a message.
The crux of the gospel of the gospel is eternal life. Any gospel that has no eternal life in focus is a spiritual virus.
Thousands are dying and going to hell everyday yet we focus on financial prosperity and earthly success. As good as financial and material prosperity are, they are useless if they carry no eternal life in them. Miracles, signs and wonders are awesome but if they won’t lead us to eternal life they are but canker worms.
Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Today, we all seek for the other things leaving the kingdom unsought for.”
Mark 8:36, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
The soul of a man is worth more than the whole world to the Master. His heart beat is the gospel and the kingdom. He is looking for men in our days who will seek and preach the kingdom above other things. There are scarcity of kingdom seekers and preachers today. Seekers of other things have hijacked the mandate.
We need to wake up from our slumber; we need to leave the comfort of our mega churches and reach out to the unreached. The lepers left their comfort zone of abundant food to a place where they have been banished. If you have a message, death won’t mean much to you. The lepers became the solution and the carriers of what the whole city of Samaria were looking for. You maybe the next messenger of good news to your community, if you have a message they will forget your condition which has made you to be a laughing stock in the past.
There is a clarion call today;
Whom will God send?
Who will go for us?
Will you make yourself available?
